About Us
Mission (what do we do?): the Llobet-Navàs laboratory is actively focused on the identification of genes (coding and non-coding) that are essential for the development and progression of gynecological malignancies (mainly, but not exclusively, endometrial cancer) to ultimately discover novel therapeutic avenues to implement precision medicine in this field. In order to achieve this our group is engaged in multiple projects covering an array of techniques and focusing in several key major cellular processes.
Vision (who do we work for?): our work is committed to the better life of cancer patients and aims to achieve this by developing new tools for cancer prevention/diagnosis and advanced treatments in order to ameliorate therapy side effects, increase patient life expectancy and improve their quality of life.
Methodology (how do we do it?): we are pursuing our goals by implementing a multidisciplinary approach based on molecular and cellular techniques, combined with genome-wide functional assays, computational analysis, genetically-engineered mouse models, patient-derived orthoxenografts and patient biopsy analysis. Our team is composed by postdoctoral fellows with grounded expertise in functional biology studies, PhD students and lab technicians. Also our work is carried out within the context of the Gynecologic Cancer division at IDIBELL and benefits from a multidisciplinary team composed of expert medical oncologists, surgeons and pathologists that assist in the completion of "from bench to bedside" translational studies.
